The series stars Takashi Sorimachi as Onizuka, with Meru Nukumi playing Mio Kashiwabara, the assistant homeroom teacher. It will premiere on Kansai TV, Fuji TV, and affiliated channels on July 20 at 10:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. EDT). This marks a significant evolution from the original manga's Heisei era setting to the modern Reiwa era, reflecting the passage of time and the changing landscape of education. The series is a sequel to earlier live-action adaptations and a remake of the 1998 series, with a live-action film released in 2000 and a live-action special in 2024. The manga has also inspired a television anime adaptation, which was initially licensed by Tokyopop and later by Discotek.
